AuditAble User Guide

1. Getting Started

1.1 What AuditAble does

AuditAble runs an automated and AI-assisted accessibility scan of your public websites, finds the issues that block residents who use screen readers, keyboards, or magnification, and gives you a prioritized list of fixes. As your team resolves issues and re-scans, your Readiness Score moves up and your dashboard tracks the progress.

You get:

  • A 0 to 100 Readiness Score that estimates how ready your site is for the Title II rule
  • A list of every finding, grouped by page and severity, with fix instructions written in plain language
  • A way to defer findings (document exceptions) that are not yours to fix (vendor responsibility, pending council action, etc.) with the reason recorded on every report
  • PDF reports your council and your auditor can read without an accessibility background
  • A team workspace so your IT, communications, and ADA coordinator can work together
  • Automatic re-scanning on a cadence that matches your plan

1.2 What AuditAble does not do

It is important to be specific here so your team has accurate expectations.

  • AuditAble does not certify legal compliance. No automated tool can. "WCAG compliant" and "ADA compliant" are not statuses a tool can confer. AuditAble produces a Readiness Score and a list of findings. Whether your site is legally compliant is a determination for your legal counsel and ultimately a court, never for an automated tool.
  • AuditAble does not push code to your servers. It generates fix instructions and, in some cases, ready-to-paste code snippets, but your team or your vendor applies the fix. AuditAble never has write access to your CMS or your hosting.
  • AuditAble does not catch every issue. The scan only counts a criterion as tested when an automated rule for it actually ran: 28 of the 50 WCAG 2.1 AA criteria today, 33 when AI-assisted evaluation is enabled, plus review flags on more criteria from collected evidence. The remaining criteria require a human reviewer with assistive technology. Every report discloses the actual criteria tested, everything else is reported as Not Evaluated, and untested criteria are never counted as passed.
  • AuditAble does not offer phone support or emergency lines. The product is designed to be self-serve. Support is by email and in-app chat, with documented response windows. There is no SLA escalation path because the product does not touch your servers, so there is no operational emergency for a support engineer to fix.

1.3 Running your free scan

Most customers come in through a free scan.

  1. Visit your free-scan link or auditable.co/free-scan
  2. Enter your primary domain (for example cityofeverywhere.gov)
  3. We discover up to 15 pages from your sitemap and scan them
  4. Your free report usually arrives by email in 2 to 5 minutes, depending on site speed and queue load
  5. The report includes your Readiness Score, your most pressing findings, an estimate of residents in your jurisdiction who may face barriers (drawn from Census ACS data), and a preview of remediation guidance for the first five issues

The free scan is a teaser. The full product, where you actually work through fixes, is the subscriber dashboard.

1.4 Creating your account from a free-scan report

Your free-scan report arrives as a PDF attached to the email. If you want AuditAble to monitor the site on an ongoing basis, follow the email's pricing link and create an account. From there:

  1. Choose Starter or Professional, or request a custom quote when your pages, domains, or budget need a tailored plan. You can change later.
  2. Add billing information. We use Stripe; we do not store card numbers on our servers.
  3. Confirm your organization name, primary domain, state, and population in the setup wizard.
  4. Run your first scan. Scans run under your new account; results from the free scan do not carry over.

Once that scan completes, the first thing you see is your Readiness Score, your letter grade, and a list of findings to work through.

1.5 Inviting your team

From the sidebar, click Team & Roles. You can invite as many people as your plan allows:

  • Starter: up to 5 seats
  • Professional: up to 15 seats
  • Custom plan: tailored to your organization

Each invite is by email. The invitee creates their own login, joins your organization, and shows up in your team list. There are two roles:

  • Admin: full access, including billing, settings, and invites
  • Member: can scan, fix, assign, and download reports; cannot change billing or invite people

We deliberately kept the role model simple. Most of our customer accounts are two to four people, and a complicated permission grid creates more problems than it solves.
